TDT Victoria (Transport & Distribution Training, Victoria) is the peak training advisory body for the road, rail, marine and air transport, distribution and warehousing industries of Victoria and has been commissioned by the Victorian government to provide advice on skill needs and skill development areas in the Transport, Distribution and Logistics (T&L) industry.
TDT Victoria is a non-profit organisation comprised of key employer and union representatives of the transport and distribution industries and is funded by industry and government.
Our aim is to promote quality training and to provide industry and government with relevant advice on training issues in order to improve the skills and productivity across the transport and logistics industry.
Our strategies are built around three target groups:
- the school environment;
- school to work pathways, and
- the existing workforce.
About ITABs
TDT Victoria is the Industry Training Advisory Body (ITAB) for the Transport and Logistics industry.
To ensure that there exists strong industry leadership of the training system, the Victorian Government funds a network of 16 ITABs which are experts on training needs and delivery in their particular industries.
ITABs provide authoritative, independent information on training needs, and promote skills development and take-up of training by businesses in their industries. The Skills Victoria website has further details about the ITAB network and its role in the Victorian training system.

Function of TDT Victoria
The major function of TDT Victoria is to provide strategic advice:
- to industry on maximising current training strategies and initiatives;
- to government on the current and future training needs of industry.

TDT Victoria works in cooperation with industry and trainers to:

- promote national training packages and competency based training;

- make training more accessible to industry and individuals, especially those in rural and isolated areas;
- coordinate within the vocational education and training system the development and recognition of training;
- develop strategies to encourage increased participation in training;
- promote training as an important business tool;
- ensure that training is provided in ways that meet the needs of individuals in each industry sector;
- encourage industry involvement in assessing the skills currently held by people working in industry;
- assist industry to identify the future training needs of the workforce;
- be an advocate to governments on training matters, on behalf of industry
